A kinetic, silent wall sculpture presenting an astonising 7-min loop animation on flat spinning discs that resseble 3D barcode spheres.
Exhibited in the group show (September 2026) the wall-mounted kinetic work 2026) reactivates the legendary work by Yannis Gaitis ‘(1974), part of the permament collection of the in Rhodes In both works the human figure is transformed into an anonymous, standardised presence. Gaitis’s emblematic figure reappears here through the contemporary “human icon”, familiar from public signage and digital environments.
Each figure has a rotating head marked by a unique barcode-like pattern, with its own code and kinetic behaviour. The shifting movements suggest a gaze that constantly changes direction without ever meeting the viewer.
(2026) creates a dialogue between Gaitis’s concerns with massification and uniformity and today’s less visible systems of algorithmic mediation. Individuality is not erased, but recorded, classified, and translated into information.
Materials: Acrylic and polyurethane paint on plywood construction, mechanical components, electric motors, electronic boards, DC power supply.
