This work could be called ‘a polyhedral painting’ since a polyhedral object is meticulously painted to reveal depth and perspective other than the actual geometric surface. Employing devices from op-art and minimalism this work becomes live when hanged from the ceiling via a thin line. If there are air currents, it can start to rotate slowly itself or otherwise it can be seen from all angles. The viewer is invited to a continuous debate of the three-dimensional space.
This ‘polyhedral painting’ is meticulously hand-painted with acrylic on a hollow MDF construction, which makes it very light for it’s volume.
Hanged from the ceiling via the pre-installed eye-screw or placed on a shelf.
Dimensions: 27 x 27 cm.
Materials: Acrylic on MDF construction, varnish.
Year of creation: 2020.
Edition of 8 pieces.
The pieces of this edition are built and assembled to order. Please allow 2-3 weeks lead time and app. 1 week for delivery. Each piece is signed numbered at the back.
In total, 8 pieces will be created, until the edition is sold out.
Each piece is a copy of the design, function and specifications, but it is not totally identical to the rest of the pieces. For example, the colours might vary slightly. These small variations keep the hand-made character of the artwork and, by all means, are a good thing! They make the wok ‘almost’ unique.
All works are made and shipped from Denmark, by artist and engineer George Koutsouris.
